Calvary Church  supports a wide variety at UCC, community and ecumenical missions. Some UCC mission support comes from the annual budget (General Fund). Other mission support comes from special offerings, mission fund-raising projects and special gifts.  We are also a Global Missions Church.

Habitat for Humanity: Since Habitat needs their  funds early in the year, we will be designating the Noisy Offering from January through June for Habitat. (July through December Noisy Offering will go to Heifer Project). We have pledged $1200 to Habitat for 2010.

BUDGETED BENEVOLENCE

OCWM (Our Churches Wider Mission) supports the work of the state and national UCC.

St. Louis Association supports the mission work of the 59 UCC churches in metro St. Louis

C_U_E Seminary Support supports the three UCC seminaries in the mid west including Eden Theological Seminary in St. Louis as well as Chicago and United Seminaries.

 

NATIONAL UCC SPECIAL OFFERINGS:

One Great Hour of Sharing received during Lent; to support the world wide mission of the UCC

Strengthen the Church supports UCC new church starts and renewals

Neighbors in Need supports UCC mission in the USA

Veterans of the Cross supports retired clergy (with limited pensions) and provides emergency support to UCC pastors in need.

Lenten giving for the Ritenour Area Food Pantry

During the 6 weeks of Lent, we will be collecting nonfood items for the pantry. There will be tote boxes in the hallway near the lounge/narthex for the collection. Suggested items: Feb. 21 - Soaps, Feb. 28 - Personal Care items, March 7 - Shampoo, March 14 - Cleaning items, March 21 - Toilet Paper, March 28 - Kleenex. Hopefully you will consider making these donations in addition to the regular food items collection.

Heifer Project

We lacked about $5 to be able to send 6 sheep at the end of the year; so 5 were sent, and the 6th will be sent as soon as we have enough for it.  We have decided to start saving up for chicks next. A flock of 3 costs $20.

It's hard to believe that we have sponsored Nikki Rose in the Philippines for 5 years!  Watch for an upcoming scrapbook of her letters and photos.
